Assam’s popular singer Zubeen Garg dies while scuba diving in Singapore

GUWAHATI: Zubeen Garg (52), Assam’s cultural icon and the heartthrob of the young generation, has died after a reported accident in Singapore.

The “Ya Ali” famed singer FALLdied after a fall into the sea while he was paragliding in Singapore. According to some reports, he died in a freak scuba diving accident. He was taken to hospital in a serious condition and declared dead later. The singer was in Singapore to attend the Northeast Festival and was supposed to perform on Friday.film producer, screenwriter and philanthropist. Garg married Garima Saikia, a fashion designer from Golaghat, Assam.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma mourned the death. “It is a tragic and painful incident. I will go back to Guwahati and discuss how we can bring his mortal remains,” Sarma told the media, abruptly ending his campaign for election to the Bodoland Territorial Council.
