Four injured as sound system collapses at Yash’s ‘Toxic’ pre-release event in Hyderabad
Four people, including a student, were injured after a sound box system collapsed during the pre-release event of actor Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups at Malla Reddy University in Medchal on Saturday night, police said.
The incident occurred while Yash was addressing a large gathering of fans at the venue. According to police, a group of young attendees had climbed onto the stand supporting a flying DJ speaker system, apparently to get a better view, when the structure lost balance and collapsed. Four people fell from the elevated stand and sustained injuries.“One student suffered a leg fracture while three others had minor injuries,” a senior police official said. All four were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
A case has been registered against the management of the institution and the event manager in connection with the incident, police said.
The mishap was also captured on video by people at the venue, with visuals later circulating on social media.
Yash briefly stopped his speech after noticing the structure collapse and asked the organisers and fans to check on those affected. A large number of fans had gathered at the university to attend the event and see Yash and other members of the film’s team.
Toxic, written by Yash and Geetu Mohandas, is billed as an action-thriller saga set in Goa between the 1940s and 1970s. Yash plays Raya, a gangster, with Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth and Huma Qureshi in key roles.
Produced by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, the film is scheduled for worldwide theatrical release on August 26.
