India thrash Afghanistan by an innings and 300 runs in one-off

India completed a dominant innings-and-300-run victory over Afghanistan inside three days in the one-off Test at New Chandigarh on Monday, with the hosts’ spin attack proving too strong for the visitors.

Asked to follow on after conceding a massive first-innings deficit, Afghanistan were bowled out for 112 in their second innings, an even lower total than their first-innings score of 152, as India wrapped up a comprehensive win.The foundation for the victory was laid by India’s imposing first-innings total of 564 for 8 declared, which left Afghanistan facing an uphill task throughout the contest.

Debutant left-arm spinner Manav Suthar starred with the ball in Afghanistan’s first innings, returning impressive figures of 6 for 33 from 22 overs to trigger a batting collapse.

In the second innings, Washington Sundar led the charge with four wickets as Afghanistan’s resistance folded quickly The victory underlined India’s dominance in all departments and marked a memorable debut for Suthar, whose six-wicket haul played a pivotal role in the emphatic result.
